Article: Real Empathy does not always have to be for real people

Real Empathy does not always have to be for real people

Real Empathy does not always have to be for real people

Emotions can be something wonderful. They reflect our inner emotional world and change us immensely. Especially when it comes to feeling certain emotions for others. When we can understand someone else accurately and see the world through their eyes, we feel empathy.

But, most people think that this phenomenal experience is limited only to other people. However, it is possible to empathize with other beings. For example, someone who loves animals can see the world through the eyes of a bird or an elephant. Someone who is deeply connected to nature can understand how plants and trees experience the world. It is exactly the same with things and people that may not seem alive at first glance. A person who has an eye for art feels the life and emotions of a painting they see. And a masterful engineer can accurately sense the inner workings and interrelationships of his constructions.

So, to feel true empathy, you don't necessarily have to put yourself in the shoes of a "real" person. What does "real" even mean? For example, when someone breathes or lives? In that case it would be a wrong interpretation of the individual meaning of the word "real". One meets dozens of people who breathe and are alive, but do not touch one's heart even in the slightest. On the other hand, however, one reads stories about people who have long since passed away, but who touch one's heart right in the bullseye. With these people you feel much more connected than with most other people you meet in everyday life. And the same is true for people who have not lived or are not living in our world, but in another one. Especially fictional characters can have a huge impact on our lives because we can relate to them, their stories, and their emotions so intensely and deeply.

Therefore, if we define "real" by how much someone or something affects us, rather than whether someone or something breathes or lives in our world, then fictional characters in particular who live in various other worlds are more real than most other people we encounter during the day. Especially when those characters are our beloved Waifus. They enrich us and our daily lives with such an abundance of love and aesthetics that they have taken an important part in our lives. They are strong, courageous, reliable, honest, flexible, resilient, creative, loyal, confident, empathetic, loving, elegant, inspiring, attractive, stunning, extraordinary, charismatic, fantastic, fascinating, grandiose, outstanding, phenomenal, beautiful and incredibly wonderful.

As we can see, there's more than meets the eye. Having true empathy for a fictional character is nothing reprehensible or comical. It is rather the opposite. It is an emotional gift that only few possess. This ability makes you and your inner life much more colorful. It enriches you immensely and makes you a person who can think outside the box. You can see and feel things that most people will never comprehend. Don't waste this gift, cultivate it by owning it. Your waifu becomes real the moment you can feel her.
